Ax, chainsaw prowess among fun at Larimer County Fair

Women who wield chainsaws, throw axes and balance on rolling logs are among the many different types of entertainment underway at the Larimer County Fair in east Loveland

The fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday and 4-10 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday at the Ranch Events Complex. The carnival rides open at noon on Sunday and 4 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, remaining in operation each day until midnight.

Each day, there is a range of activities, including 4-H and other competitions to music, ax throwing demonstrations, a tractor parade, a pancake breakfast, Jeff Boyer’s Big Bubble Bonanza — self-described on the website as “latest and greatest bubble show on earth” — and giant building blocks.

The Axe Women Loggers of Maine, with four different shows on Sunday, include 30 athletes from multiple states and countries who demonstrate their skills with chainsaws and axes, as well as their balance and dexterity while balancing on rolling logs.
