Bosch 18V Cordless Heat Gun

Heat guns have a variety of uses in both the professional and DIY markets. They help with anything from paint/adhesive removal to bending and shaping plastic. Now that battery-powered heat guns are keeping up in performance with corded and gas-powered models, a number of brands are entering their versions into the ring. Today we’re looking at the Bosch cordless heat gun to see how it compares.

The Bosch GHG18V-50N heat gun achieves a maximum heat of up to 930°F. With two different heat settings, you can set your heat output levels to either 930°F or 570°F to cover a variety of applications. It also has a quick heat-up time, warming to 570°F in just six seconds.

You can expect up to 21 minutes of runtime when using this heat gun in the lower temperature setting. It has a maximum airflow rate of 6.2 CFM (175 liters per minute). Bosch tells us it’s ideal for electricians, auto techs, and other tradesmen for applications like heat-shrinking wires, bending plastic pipes, and removing adhesive labels.

This tool also features restart protection, which prevents accidental tool startup when you’re switching batteries.

Bosch included two nozzles with the GHG18V-50N that help you direct heat in different ways. A hook nozzle supplies hot air around surfaces for even heating, and a reduction nozzle provides a concentrated heat flow to your workpiece.

This heat gun has a lightweight design, weighing just 1.67 pounds without a battery. It features a soft-grip design for better handling and comfort when using for long periods of time. An LED work light also helps illuminate your work area.

Additionally, this tool is compatible with Bosch’s AMPShare Battery System, which allows you to use the same batteries for multiple tool brands.

This tool retails for $149 for the bare tool and we’re not seeing any kit options at the time of writing. Bosch covers your purchase with a five-year warranty.
