As we found in our testing, the Z6 can—quickly—leave behind a perfectly manicured track of mowed grass.

Mowing an overgrown lawn, especially several acres, can be laborious. But a zero-turn mower is the rare power tool that makes lawn mowing fun, giving you the maneuverability of a go-kart. There’s also the perk that you don’t have to push or walk behind it. Sounds fun, right? With fall fast approaching, now’s the time to prepare for after-summer lawn care. But instead of firing up a traditional lawn mower, you can pick up this Ego Power+ Z6 Electric Zero-Turn Mower for $1,000 off at Lowe’s.

Usually $5,499, this best-selling zero-turn machine from Ego is down to $4,499 until September 7. It delivers 22 horsepower—equivalent to a comparable gas-engine mower—and reaches a top mowing speed of 7 miles per hour, allowing you to clear your yard in a fraction of the time that a push mower would take.

Ego’s mower can hold up to six batteries simultaneously (four come included), giving you enough runtime to tackle 2 acres. The battery bank feeds current to two deck motors—one for each 21-inch blade—and two drive motors, allowing the mower to efficiently cut grass and wheel around with precision. What’s nice is the batteries are easy to plug in and charge. If you prefer, you can leave the batteries in the bay and use the charging cable to plug the mower into an outlet in the garage directly.

Other features include an LCD interface with three drive modes: control (slower with less touchy steering), standard (in the middle), and sport (faster and sharper turns). Once you learn what works best for your property, the different modes can help increase battery run time, mowing efficiency, and cut quality. The mower’s performance, power, and features earned it a spot in our guide to the best zero-turn mowers. Senior Home Editor Roy Berendsohn found it leaves a superb cut quality and handles like a dream. Meanwhile, the Z6 is compatible with various accessories, including this mulch plug that can turn the clippings into nutrient-rich food for your yard.

Electric zero-turn mowers offer several advantages over gas models, including quieter operation, reduced maintenance, and easier winter storage. They also provide instant torque to power through thick grass and uneven terrain. And with no recoil cord, electric mowers are easier to start—simply turn them on, and you’re ready to mow.
